The Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States expresses its heartfelt condolences and sympathy to all those concerned in the horrible tragedies that had occurred in Turkey and in the region of Ulyanovsk in Central Russia.

On Saturday on a motorway in the region of Gaziantep in Turkey a bus hit people giving assistance to the casualties of a previous accident: Sixteen people were killed, including the crew of an ambulance, firemen and journalists. And in the town of Derik close to the border with Syria a truck drove into a crowd because of a failure of its brakes. The local authorities and the press announced that at least sixteen people were killed here too.

On Sunday, in the region of Ulyanovsk in Central Russia, sixteen people lost their lives in a minivan. According to the TASS Russian News Agency a lorry crashed into the minivan from behind. Since it was not able to brake in time, the minivan was pushed into a truck in front of it. The governor of the region said on the social media that besides those killed, there are also three people with life-threatening injuries. The passengers of the minivan are thought to have been the citizens of Kyrgyzstan. The driver of the lorry that had come from behind is also among those killed.
