Appointed by the Heads of State during the 9th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Samarkand, the new Secretary General Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev took over the post from his predecessor Baghdad Amreyev with a ceremony on 14 November 2022 at the Secretariat Headquarters in Istanbul.
The outgoing Secretary General B. Amreyev wished every success to Ambassador Omuraliev in leading the Secretariat and its activities. He expressed his gratefulness to the Secretariat staff for their unceasing work throughout his term. Ambassador Omuraliev thanked Baghdad Amreyev for his services and contributions to the Organization during his tenure.
Speaking at the ceremony, new Secretary General stated that to meet the growing mandate and expectations, the Secretariat will undertake work tirelessly for a brighter future of the Organization. He noted that the scale of the impending reforms itself will demand the Secretariat’s time and effort. With all the wealth of institutional, intellectual, and personal resources of the Secretariat, Organization is well-equipped to continue achieving and accelerating the objectives of the Turkic Vision 2040 and OTS Strategy for 2022–2026.
At the ceremony, the new Secretary General also thanked and wished success to Mr. Gismat Gozalov, the Deputy Secretary General, whose term at the Secretariat has completed.
