During his visit to Hungary, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of the OTS, paid a visit to Lakitelek where he had a meeting with Sándor Lezsák, the Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament. Kubanychbek Omuraliev also visited the Gul Baba turbe, where he met the Hungarian member of the Council of Elders, Attila Tilki.
During his stay at the College in Lakitelek (Bács–Kiskun County), the Secretary General visited the Hungaricum Grove which plays a serious role in deepening the cultural ties between Hungary and the Turkic world, as well as in the field of education, in the first place in organizing Turkish language courses. Kubanychbek Omuraliev laid a wreath at the bust of the Kazak poet, Ibrahim Abaj Kunanbajuli which was unveiled in the Hungaricum Grove in the garden of the College in 2021.
Sándor Lezsák underlined: the statue is the symbol of the kinship and friendship between the Hungarian and Turkic peoples – through it our peoples come closer to one another. The poet has enriched Turkic literature with his own works but has also contributed to it with his invaluable translations as well. In such a way, the Turkic people have been able to get acquainted with the outstanding works of European literature.
During their meeting Sándor Lezsák and Kubanychbek Omuraliev also discussed the possibility of the OTS, together with the Representation Office in Budapest, making efforts to make the cooperation between the institutions of higher education in Hungary and the Turkic Union of Universities closer.
The Secretary General has also visited the Gul Baba turbe where he was shown the museum, the cultural center, as well as the historical walls nearby which present one of the oldest sites of the Ottoman times in Budapest. Kubanychbek Omuraliev greeted the newly appointed Hungarian member of the Council of Elders, Attila Tilki who joined the Secretary General while he was visiting the turbe. Taking the opportunity, the Secretary General and Attila Tilki discussed the internal structure of the Council of Elders, as well as the events in its schedule. Kubanychbek Omuraliev pointed out that the significance of the Council of Elders within the OTS has been increasing since its structure and composition were strengthened during the summit meeting in Istanbul in 2021. Attila Tilki stated that he would be doing his best and is committed to contributing to the work of the Council of Elders.
