Prime Minister Viktor Orbán received Mikayil Jabbarov, the minister for the economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Carmelite Monastery. During their meeting the Sides mostly covered the issues of cooperation in the field of energy.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, as well as Márton Nagy, the minister for economic development also participated in the meeting. From the point of view of the energy security of Hungary, Viktor Orbán called the fact that under the previously signed agreements, in July the energy company of Azerbaijan started uploading natural gas into the reservoirs of Hungary, an important development. In such a way, a physical tie has been established for delivering natural gas between our two countries.
It was also stressed that several Hungarian companies are taking part in successful cooperation in Azerbaijan, and further investments are also envisaged. In connection with the reconstruction in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani side has already designated the settlement the reconstruction work of which is planned to be trusted to Hungarian companies.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán underlined that each year Hungary is offering 200 scholarships to students from Azerbaijan to study in our country.
