Hungary is committed to hosting a large-scale business forum of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce established by the Member States of the Turkic Council at the end of spring so that our companies can join forces shortly to implement investment projects, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at the Online Summit of the Turkic Council.
The Prime Minister recalled that the Turkic Council welcomed Hungary three years ago as an observer, and since then Hungarian diplomacy has placed great emphasis on strengthening relations with the member countries of the organization. An important objective of Hungary was to increase relations with all the countries of the Turkic Council to the level of strategic cooperation and to establish representations in all member countries. This process has been completed by signing a joint declaration of strategic partnership in Uzbekistan and the recent opening of the Hungarian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Cooperation has noticeable results: although global trade has fallen by 9 percent, Hungary’s trade with the Member States of the Turkic Council increased by 3 percent last year. This year nearly 5000 young people from these countries applied for university scholarships in Hungary, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Hungary continues to maintain its intention to join the Turkic Investment Fund because it is essential to create a financial background for development projects. Hungary is prepared to allocate the necessary budgetary resources for this purpose.
The Turkic Council meeting was originally scheduled to take place in Turkistan region in southern Kazakhstan, but the organizers finally held a video conference due to the unpredictable COVID-19 situation.
